Street Photography

Along with performance photography, street photography is Ashleigh’s most practiced medium. She lives for the candid and spontaneous moments abundant in the streets.

Places she has photographed include United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Japan.

Occupy Wall Street and San Francisco

During her college days, there was a surge of political activism at San Francisco State University regarding budget cuts, and while Ashleigh was in attendance, The Occupy Wall Street movement launched. She made a point to go and photograph both New York and San Francisco Occupy movements mostly in black and white. These photos include the first gay wedding she ever attended, tents mounted on the side of buildings with stenciled letters stating  “You Cannot Evict an Idea Whose Time Has Come” and stunning candid portraits of people taking a stand against economic inequality, police brutality and corporate greed.

The photos have been shown at Photoworks SF, SFSU Library and Berkeley’s David Brower Center.
